| Peace on the
snow-capped Dolomites
The Natural Park - winter: idyllic snow-covered landscape
Winter in the Fiscalina Valley is really special. Mountain
quiet and plenty of snow, with an enchanting view of the
Dolomites everywhere you look. A true paradise, whether you are
the active type or a lover of peace and quiet.
The Fondovalle Refuge is an excellent point of departure for
all kinds of wintertime adventures, but it is also a convenient point
of arrival that is always waiting to receive you with a nice glass of
hot mulled wine or a Sextner Merende (snack made from typical Sexten
products).
Cross-country skiing
Cross-country skiing: the most exciting way to move across an
enchanting natural countryside, a never-ending joy. The trails across
the Fiscalina Valley extend to the foot of Cima Uno and reach the
Fondovalle Refuge. They are linked to the 200-kilometer network of
cross-country skiing trails of the Upper Pusteria Valley.
Boots, snow shoes (“ciaspole”) and alpine skiing
excursions in the winter
Numerous winter itineraries, whether on snow shoes or skis, start from
the Drei Zinnen Refuge and take you to an enchanting white world whose
quiet is interrupted only by the creaking noises made by the snow and
ice. The chance to enjoy this unique view of innumerable alpine peaks
is worth any effort. Excursionists can travel over miles of
well-tended winter trails. Here are some suggestions:
• Costoni di Croda Rossa (you climb the range from the back
through the Croda Rossa Valley or through the “Kuhwald” forest),
then ski down the slopes of the Croda Rossa skiing area. Ideal as a
